Chester Durnas, M.D., Medical Director

Dr. Durnas brings us the expertise of a Geriatrician. There are few to be found in the State of Illinois, and we are fortunate to have him as our Medical Director. He is also certified as a Medical Director. With the many complicated problems of the elderly, Dr. Durnas is helpful in resolving medication changes and behavioral approaches to our residents. With his expertise at the helm, we are able to provide the best known medical care to our residents.

29 years of experience at The Neighbors working in almost all positions at one time or another.

I believe that our seniors have a wealth of information and history regarding ethics, values and life in general. They have lived longer, therefore, they have a great deal of expertise to share. Our seniors are a real blessing because of their a wealth of experiential learning from their lives. This, they share with those of us who take care of them. 

Our job is about caring for people who have lived long lives. Our attention must always be focused on them and their families. Through working with our staff as family, they learn the values we desire for them when they care for our residents. We are very fortunate to have a community that cares and spends much volunteer time with our residents. These individuals and groups allow our residents to enjoy the community as they have in the past.

People from the area often use us as a resource with helping to solve problems they encounter when dealing with the elderly. We welcome calls and are more than happy to share what we know. I would invite calls from anyone who has concerns. Our staff collectively have expert knowledge of treatment and care for the many illnesses and diseases the elderly encounter including Alzheimer's Disease and dementia care.

Nancy Knight, R.N.,   Director of Nursing

Nancy has been a nurse for 43 years and has experience in many facets of nursing. She has been a Director of Nursing for over 20 years. Overseeing that your loved one receives quality, loving nursing care gives Nancy great satisfaction. Nancy joined the team at The Neighbors in September of 2007 and has shown her expertise in many areas.
